Patiala's sway over the Malwa area of Punjab extends beyond merely political influence. Patiala is equally the set of religious and cultural life.Language widely spoken in Patiala is Punjabi. Hindi nad English are only used for Official  works.
CUISINES
Patiala is simply fascinating when  it comes to food.The city is celebrated for its cookery  and meat produce. From well-known mutton dishes  and exotic chicken to Mutter Paneer  and Makki-ki-Roti, Mutter Paneer is an appetizing curry of peas and cheese cubes while  Makki-ki-Roti, saag. Kulfi, a cardamom flavored and milky tasting dessert, and Ras Malai. 

FESTIVALS 
All the festivals celebrated in Punjab and sikhs like Diwali, Holi, Dushera, Gur Purab,  and  Baisakhi are celebrated in Patiala also. Except these, the two festivals that are only  celebrated in Patiala are Craft Mela and Patiala heritage Festival.

PATIALA HERITAGE FESTIVAL

rted in the year 2003 under the Patiala Heritage Society, the Patiala Heritage Festival is an annual feature ornamenting the fair face of the city of Patiala. Held in the gentle climate of the month of February, every year, the Patiala Heritage Festival is an offering sublime not just for the music and art lovers of Patiala but also for those of the entire state of Punjab and region put together.Conceived and planned as a cultural event showcasing the various aspects of art, music and sporting culture of the erstwhile Royal state of Patiala with a view to injecting a fresh lease of life into them.

CRAFT MELA
The Crafts Mela (the Crafts Fair) is an integral component of the ten-day long Patiala Heritage Festival organised in the city every year in the month of February. In fact, the Crafts Fair is the longest-occurring feature of the Heritage Festival starting in mid-February and going on for two weeks at a stretch. During these two weeks, the Fair brings to the city the artistry, workmanship and theoutsatnding craftsmanship in a multiplicity of handicraft items from all across the country.

BAISAKHI
Vaisakhi or Baisakhi is one of the most significant holidays in Sikh calendar, commemorating the establishment of the Khalsa in 1699. Vaisakhi is celebrated by the Khalsa as their birthday every year, the day corresponding to the event when they were created by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It is celebrated in sikhs where ever they are with great enthusiasm.
