THAPAR UNIVERSITY-
Thapar University, formerly known as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology was founded in 1956 by Karam Chand Thapar. The university is situated in Patiala, Punjab. The Thapar University is today recognized among the top universities and privately managed grant-in-aid engineering institutions of the country and in the north-western region of India.
A Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) has been set up at Thapar University by TIFAC Mission REACH of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India in its first phase of setting up eight CORES at various Institutes and Universities spread all over the country.
Science and Technology Entrepreneur’s Park (STEP) has been established jointly by Thapar University and DST, Govt. of India.
Thapar University has grown in size and activities during the last five decades of its existence. Nearly 10,500 engineers have graduated. Thapar University was granted full autonomy and the status of a Deemed University in 1985 UGC.


MULTANI MAL MODI COLLEGE-

It was established in 1967 with financial help from Gujjar Mal Modi.
It is affiliated to Punjabi UniversityPatiala, and is managed by Rai Bahadur Multani Mal Modi Charitable Trust. The multi-faculty co-educational institution with its modern and magnificent campus sprawling outside Sunami Gate near Polo Ground, was established by the late Padma Bhushan, Rai Bahadur Seth Gujjar Mal Modi, a business magnate of India, in the fond memory of his illustrious father Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi.Its foundation stone was laid by Dr Dharam Vira, ICS, the then Governor of Punjab on Sept. 21, 1966.

Government Mohindra College-
Established in 1875,Mohindra College,located in Patiala,Punjab is the oldest institution of contemporary higher learning in Northern India.Mohindra Collegewas the first institution in Punjab to receive A+ grade from NAAC - the National Assessment and Accreditation Council-of the Government of India.The college offers undergraduate and graduate level education.The 21-acre Mohindra College campus is located outside the Patiala walled city opposite the National Institute of Sports, Patiala.Mohindra College was ini tially affiliated to the University of Calcutta; at the time, Calcutta was the capital of British Raj.In 1882 theUniversity of Punjab was established in Lahore, and Mohindra College became one of its first affiliated colleges. Following the partition of India in 1947, the college came under purview of the Punjab University, Chandigarh, and later in 1962, under the Punjabi University of Patiala.


Government Medical College-
Established in 1953. The college is associated with Rajendra Hospitals. It is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and recognized by the state government. Government Medical College Patiala has gained the approval of Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. It offers several medical courses of various levels i.e. UG, PG and Diploma. Government Medical College Patiala is fully equipped with all basic infrastructural facilities. It is aimed at imparting quality medical education and producing skilled health personnel with social values.


Government College of Education-
The foundation stone of the College was laid in 1955 by the then Chief Minister of PEPSU State Sh. Bhrish Bhan. The campus was inaugurated by the then Home Minister Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant.  Earlier the college was known as the State College of Education. It is affiliated to Punjabi University and approved by THE National Council for Teacher Education for running the B.Ed and M.Ed course. Government College of Education Patiala is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It provides state-of-the-art facilities to its students.Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, sports and fitness centre are available. Separate hostel accommodation for girls and boys is available.


Government Bikram College of Commerce-
The college is one of the leading colleges of commerce in the entire  northern region situated in the princely city of Patiala. It was established in 1945.The college is an epitome of glory & grandeur in the field of commerce. In 1955, the college was shifted to Patiala from Fridkot. Initially, the college was affiliated to Panjab University and later it got affiliated to Punjabi University in 1962.the college is the only single faculty prestigious college of commerce in the state of Punjab. This college is accredited by N.A.A.C. with B++ Grade.Two kinds of scholarships i.e. Govt. and Private scholarships are given to students. Punjab Govt. is providing scholarships to SC and BC students. Besides it, Merit and National Scholarships are also provided. Apart from Govt. Scholarships, Nine private scholarships are sponsored by the former faculty members, Alumni and some philanthropists to the students.


Khalsa College-
General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College, Patiala is one  of  the most recognized institutions of the state of Punjab.The college was founded in1960 with the incredible efforts of Dr. Khushdeva Singh. The pillar of Sikh history- Dr. Ganda Singh was its first principal. Significant contributions were made by General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Trust in establishing the college. And since then the college has progressed by leaps and bounds. In 1991, the college was taken over by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee , Sri Amritsar.The infrastructure of the college boasts of a fully Wi-fi campus, air conditioned Library stacked with 30,000 books, a Soft Skills Lab, Well Equipped Gymnasium, Computer Labs and Smart Classrooms.The college offers scholarships on merit basis to students who excel in academics, sports and co-curricular activities and provides fee concession to the financially poor students.


Government College of Physical Education-
Prof.Gursewak Singh Govt College of Physical Education, Patiala-NAAC  Accredited B++ is a premier institute of northern India. It is the only govt. college of physical education in Punjab which offers all the courses in physical education. This college started its journey from Mountessary Park Lahore in 1940. In 1952 the college was shifted to Ropar and finally it was shifted at Patiala in 1958. In the year 2005, college  was renamed as Prof. Gursewak Singh Govt. College of Physical Education. Prof. Gursewak Singh was a great sportsperson, eminent educationist and good administrator. One of the government funded colleges, it is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala .This the first institution to start M.P.Ed. in India in 1963. College restarted C.P.Ed
